Future Heritage 10th Edition

Future Heritage is a show originally conceived by the wonderful curator Corinne Julius to offer a platform for designers, makers and artists to show their innovative ideas to an audience with the power of patronage. A platform for them to demonstrate to these potential patrons the breadth and originality of what contemporary designers, makers and artists have to offer. Over the last decade, Future Heritage has developed a reputation for showing innovative and exciting work.

After being part of my selection panel for Collect 2023 with Craft Scotland, Corinne invited me to take part on the show and offered me the chance of continuing to develop and pursue the compositional and architectural work I presented at Collect. This show offered me the opportunity to try a new material to me, porcelain, and to develop a series of glazes and shapes that would showcase the inherent qualities of that material above else.

When faced with learning how to work with a new material, I discovered that the rules and language I had impose myself to my work in the past was no longer present. I had to relax in order to learn, enjoy the process and to let the material dictate more of the final result than I would normally allow the materials to do. These compositions aim to reflect the joy of making and of a new challenge as well as the light and delicacy of porcelain.
