Craft Scotland’s showcase at Collect Art Fair presents, annually, a selection of makers and artists based in Scotland excelling in their field. I was incredibly fortunate to be selected for the 2023 edition, taking place in Somerset House, London.

This series of work is called “To speak in solitude” and was shown at Somerset House, London, in March 2023. The pieces are composed by a series of bottles, bowls and cups that are inspired by the still life paintings of Giorgio Morandi or Francisco de Zurbarán, and elevated by a handbuilt ceramic platform that frames them as if they were a painting. I wanted to create a series of still life compositions that reflected the way I feel and work with clay. To present through my ceramics the idea of peace and calm, to offer the viewer a minute of pause and breathing.
