About

I am originally from Asturias, northern Spain, and settled in Edinburgh after graduating as an Architect in 2016 (Madrid Polytechnic University). Throughout university, I had big interest in different disciplines such as photography, ceramics or woodwork, and always felt drawn to that architecture which focuses on the materiality of the buildings.

My pottery practice began at the beginning of 2018, as part of a recovery process from a severe surgery due to nerve damage on his left hand. I joined Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop evening classes and soon became a member. Later setting up my own studio and focusing solely on my ceramic practice in late 2020.

Today, based in his Edinburgh studio, in Newhaven, I make ceramics that are a reflection of the states of mind I experience while working with clay and its physical processes: from the mindfulness of throwing, to the physicality of preparing clay or the natural slow pace behind the steps that clay follows to become a ceramic piece.

Our Friends Sylwia and Simon from Cro&Kow, came over to my previous studio a few weeks after it was set up alongside my former colleague and friend Julija Pustovrh . They filmed part of the process and we had a conversation about clay, each other’s practice and where our work comes from.
